What do you want to be when you grow up?
That's a question we were asked a zillion times when we were young. We had ready made answers too, didnt we? I wanna be a doctor/engineer/businessman etc etc. Little did we know, that the answer to the question isn't the occupation that we would like to take up when we became adults. Instead, the answer should have been whether we wanted to be good individuals or bad individuals.
Yes, our parents, teachers and other elderly around us, constantly reminded us about what is good and bad. They told us what to do and what not to do and we listened - for a while. After that 'while' we started figuring good and bad on our own. Maybe that's why when we grow up, we loose our innocence. We slowly turn into selfish beings. We want to be on top of the ladder of success even if we had to squish people standing below us. We say we are kind, gentle, loving individuals when we are actually wolves dressed as sheeps. Some of you might raise your eyebrows and say - hey! not all of us are bad!! Really?? Are you sure?
Have you ever stopped for a pedestrian to cross the road? Stopped for someone who wanted directions? How many times have you ignored those charity boxes just next to the cashier? How many times have you seen starving kids begging on the footpath and just walked by? How many times have you held the door open for the person behind you? How many times have you smiled at the person you meet in the elevator??
If you can answer in affirmative to any of the above questions, then I guess you are doing a good job trying to be a 'good' individual. What about me?? I guess am almost there,,,
