Tutorial #1 - Cotton Pleat Stenciling

by - September 18, 2011

I'am still discovering a lot of things about 'art and creativity'. My tutorials would be a forum for exchanging ideas and tips that I've learnt or discovered during my creativity process.

You may already know the technique I'am about to share here, but I discovered it on my own. :D

I'am currently working on a mini album and wanted to try some misting using a stencil I had borrowed from my friend Tani. It didn't work out the way I wanted and suddenly, I had this idea of using some cotton pleats to get the design on my album page. So this is what I did: -

I placed the stencil on the page and held it firmly (you could use pins or tape to keep it in place).
I dipped the cotton pleat in oil paint and dabbed it on the stencil. I continued the process until the design was completed.

So how does it look? Is this something you would try? Let me know please. :)

  2. It looks great! I'm not sure what a cotton pleat is, but a make-up sponge might also work well for this technique.
