Although 'scrapbooking' is a fairly new word in my household, I never realized it was something I always did. I've always loved taking photos. I preferred albums with space for notes where I could simply jot down where the photo was taken from or the 'story' behind it. I always collected memorabilia from our trips. I still have those catching dust. ;) Whenver I camw back from vacation, I would post photos on my Facebook page with long journals underneath - so that my family and friends knew what the photos were about. See, I was already scrapbooking! I just didn't know!
When few months back my friend Tani told me about scrapbooking, I didn't understand the concept. I did a bit of research over the Internet. I came across 'mini albums' and felt I would prefer that. My first attempt went down terribly (atleast to me). I continued to read about 'scrapbooking' and tried out a layout (shown above). I was absolutely thrilled when I finished it. It had everything that made me happy - photos + write ups + pretty things. And to top it all, I made it MYSELF!
I love making lists, so let me summarize my love for scrapbooking with the list below.
I love scrapbooking because: -
It's a great way to record memories. I love the fact that my children can go through my albums and learn more about me and about themselves through 'my eyes'. :)
It's all handmade - I love being able to create something by myself. I love that my layouts are 'handmade by me'. ;)
I'am happy that there's something to look forward to. That I'am always itching to sit at my desk and make something. The best part is that I do not need my TV for entertainment anymore! (poor fellow)
I don't have to be perfect. There's no one to judge me. The layouts or minis I make need not be perfect. That gives me peace of mind and stops me from worrying about how the project is going to look like after I'am finished with it.
It's a marriage of two of my favourite things - taking photos and penning my thoughts.
It's a great way to meet people and make new friends. There's a large community of paper crafters out there who share the same passion. I have met so many girls who are down to earth and are willing to share their knowledge with newbies like me.
Last but not the least, it makes me happy. And when I'am happy my family is happy. Isn't that the most important thing?
So, are you passionate about scrapbooking? Or is it something else? Tell me, what are you passionate about? What makes you happy? What makes you jump with happiness?
