Ramadan Journal 2014 | Week 3

What a week it has been! I do not know where to start or what to write about.

I felt silly posting photos of little things in my life and hashtagging it with #gratefulfor when I should be grateful for everything - the air I breathe, the clean water I drink, the food I cook and eat, a loving husband, two healthy happy children with no worries and so many other things. I simply couldn't continue with the project.

I felt (still feel) bogged down with all the images of Gaza and Malaysian plane crash. To add to the misery, there is the six year old girl from Bangalore. What are we mothers to do?!

The only thing that keeps me going is the expectation of meeting J's brother and family in few days. They are flying in to spend last of Ramadan and Eid with us and we are beyond excited to have them.

Ramadan Goals Update:

Finish recitation of the Holy Quran with translation at least once - Done, Alhamdulillah.

Learn a short chapter (or few verses of a long chapter) from the Holy Quran - finished memorizing the second part of Surah Al Rahman (Chapter 55). Alhamdulillah.

Say Tahajjud prayers at least ten times - Done, Alhamdulillah

Learn three new prayers (duas) - learnt two, one more to go, Alhamdulillah

Read an Islamic book with our children - We read couple of books together last week, Alhamdulillah.

Donate food or clothes with our children watching - Done, Alhamdulillah

Help a random stranger - Done, Alhamdulillah

Tell a non-Muslim friend about Ramadan - DoneAlhamdulillah

Write down one thing we are grateful for, in our journal, every day - Ive been sharing #gratefulfor photos on my Instagram

I am taking a mini-break from blogging and social media for couple of weeks. Let's make the most of what we have left of Ramadan and remember our family, friends and millions out there who are suffering in our prayers (regardless of their religion and beliefs). Eid Mubarak in advance! xx
