"Comparison Is The Thief Of Joy" ~ Theodore Roosevelt

It is so easy to loose sight of all the good things we have while looking at all the great things someone else has, isn't it? When I see my newsfeed crowded with photos of my friends traveling, going out and having a good time, it is so easy to fall on the slippery slope of comparison, asking myself why am I here, stuck at home in this heat with three children when I could be traveling as well? Then I have to remind myself that we traveled a lot last year, this year is for rest. We just had a baby and we are anticipating few things in the future, so we got to take it slow. Moreover, summer in Dubai is really not that bad if I put my heart to it and find ways to keep ourselves occupied. (I am actually enjoying this 'slowness' of Dubai and the long hours I am getting to spend with my children.)

Coming back to my point, if we are competing, we should be competing with ourselves. Have we gotten better at something since we started? Are we improving? Is this thing that I am doing bringing me any joy? These are the questions we should be asking ourselves. Even if we had the same resources that someone else has, our work results will vary very much from one another. Why? Because we are unique, we are all made differently and we have different stories to tell. So let us focus on OUR story and stop looking at someone else's highlight reel.

Happy Weekend!
