Day 6 - Today

I made a huge blunder early in the morning today. I do not sleep with my phone next to me anymore, BUT I do have the habit of checking it first thing in the morning. A habit that I have been trying my best to break and after what happened today, I most probably will.

I had messaged my friend yesterday and she happened to reply while I was checking my emails and messages in the morning. I have this habit of replying quickly just so that I don't keep it for later and forget. So when my friend replied, without thinking through and trying to understand what she was trying to tell me, I typed a half-assed reply and pressed the send button. Then I went to take a shower. And as I woke up properly, it hit me that I was stupidly rude to someone who was trying to do something good for me. Ugh!

I went back to my phone hoping that my friend hadn't seen my message, but she did. From her reply, I could sense that she was hurt. I apologized, profusely. Sincerely. I teared up. I couldn't believe what I had done! Thankfully, she understood and accepted my apology. It was very kind of her.

What I am trying to say is, we tend to reply to things quickly without really listening to what the other person is telling us. So today, I made the resolution to give myself 15-20 minutes before replying to emails or messages. I do not mean to brag, but I get a ton of Whatsapp messages, emails, DMs, replies to Stories here and I hate making people wait so I reply quickly even if it's short. It's a good strategy and has worked for me in terms of my store but when it comes to personal relationships, it's better to take my time and get back to the person rather than hurry and lose a good friend.

Have you made any blunder like this?

Day 7 - Throwback

A throwback to our trip to Holland in 2012. Feels like yesterday but eons ago at the same time.

Day 8 - Read
Every year during Ramadan I try to finish reciting the Holy Quran once with translation, so there's not much time left to read anything else. However, these are the books I am loving now:
1. The Story of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw): Ramadan Classics: 30 Stories for 30 Nights by Humera Malik
This was recommended by my co-sis and TnA have been reading it. The stories are really short and a child can finish one each day easily.

2. In The Company Of Women by Grace Bonney
I purchased this book a couple of months ago and flip through it every now and then especially when I need some inspiration or a quick pick-me-up.

What's on your reading table?

Day 9 - Favourite

I don't think I have to tell you that my current favorite pastime is Brush Lettering. Pen, paper and five minutes are all it takes to practice. How do you spend your free time?

Brush Pens from various brands are available at my store Pretty Paper Studio (because someone will ask).
